Maybe reinstall???

It's probably coming from VirtualDub instead of Vegas.

It worked, now when I run the script do I need to change any settings or is it all automatic.

Also once it is done it seems like the script creates another AVI file that put in deshaker folder on my C drive; is the file in that folder as well as the footage on my timeline both deshaken?!

Here's how I *think* it works:

1) The footage on the timeline is rendered out to an UNCOMPRESSED AVI file (possibly this is the one you're seeing in the "deshaker" folder.)

2) That new file is then "deshaken"

3) That new file is then added as a TAKE on the timeline.

So...

You should see that the clip now has two takes. Press "T" to go between the "smoothed" take and the original UNTOUCHED take. Your original file will NOT be touched in any way.

If you have View - Active Take Information turned on, you'll see that it's now listed as 1/2 or 2/2 indicating which take of two takes you're looking at.

I was using deshaker yesterday and got this weird behaviour (the uncompressed files were created under c:\deshake).

The documentation mention that the project must be saved in Vegas prior to run deshaker. If it is not, the temporary files will be created on the last used drive.

Quote:
// Set folder for rendering "Deshaked" video.
// You should really save the project before running the script, but if you didn't,
// this IF statement assigns a default render folder on the last used drive.

// This is a quick and dirty way to avoid an error message. There is probably
// a better solution to this problem.

if ((Vegas.Project.FilePath == null) || (Vegas.Project.FilePath.length == 0)) {
baseDir = "";
}
else {
baseDir = Vegas.Project.FilePath.Substring(0, Vegas.Project.FilePath.LastIndexOf("\\"));
}

var deshakeDir : String = baseDir + "\\deshake";
if (!Directory.Exists(deshakeDir)) {
Directory.CreateDirectory(deshakeDir);
}
